The project started when I saw an AEK at a meetup. I loved the side profile and so I decided to make a 60% that had the same curved side. Then, at the time I was experimenting with variable fillets and that is how the corners of the board came about. I knew I wanted it to be curvy so the final side profile with the undercut was made.
The design went through several iterations, but in the end Manu had the idea to have a curve like what is in the final design, and I had the idea to make the entire chin of the board be a separate copper piece. That is how the board came to be!

The mounting system is the logical evolution of the one used on boomerang. After having prototyped it 4 times we’ve landed on what is essentially the same, but different.
We loved the way orings felt but it was always a bit of a battle to get them to either all be consistent or to find niche hardnesses in the dimensions we required. So, I made a gasket.
This will allow us to control dimensions better and have a wide array of hardnesses to test. But to allow people to use oring if they want it anyways I’ve made the plate so that it can accommodate both.
Once testing of the prototype is done I’ll post videos of how each hardness sounds with some quick notes on how they feel.
